Me kids’ education has always been a priority in my family. I was born in Málaga, but raised in Algeciras. When I got married and had kids in school age, my wife and I decided that there was no better school for our kids to carry out their studies than the International School of Sotogrande. For that reason, and even though we lived almost eighty kilometers away from the school center, we decided to bet on it.
From the first moment I took my oldest son to his first day of school and entered the urbanization, the excitement of imagining that someday I should live in Sotogrande was deposited in my mind. Day by day, walking through its streets, on the way to pick up my kids, I admired the beauty of the landscape more and more. This excitement grew when on one of those morning walks, I went up to the “La Reserva” area, which at that time, around the year 2014, was barely urbanized.
One evening, I climbed to the highest point of the area and when contemplating the views from that position, I understood that that should be my family’s place. A gaze at the sea that disappeared into the infinite and a gentle breeze that accompanied you with great warmth. The sun shone with that special light that only appears on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and the rainbow of green colors that surrounded the entire urbanization made the feeling of home settle in my heart.
As soon as I got home, I talked to my wife, who understood me from the first moment when I told her about the experience of living in that place.
We built our house in that high area, with endless views, and little by little, we were accompanied by national and foreign neighbors who had fallen in love with that place equally.
Today, I dedicate myself to selling properties throughout the urbanization. It is a job that I am passionate about because the satisfaction of my clients finding the quality of life they have always dreamed of makes me connect with them and share the peace of enjoying this place called Sotogrande.
Francisco Calvente is one of the partners of Marsotogrande, a real estate agency based in Sotogrande, an exclusive area of the Costa del Sol in Spain. But his story with Sotogrande dates back more than three decades, when he was a child who came from Algeciras to play tennis.
In the 80s, Francisco first visited Sotogrande and fell in love with the place. Years later, in 2001, together with his wife, Rocío, he had the opportunity to buy a plot in the area and build his own house. In 2005, they finished building their house in Sotogrande, becoming permanent residents of this exclusive place on the Costa del Sol.
